Aaron & Elizabeth – Vail Engagement Session

Oh my gracious. I don’t even know where to start with Aaron & Elizabeth! I already had a personal relationship with them as Elizabeth’s family has been close friends with Mike’s (hubby) family for decades. In the past we’d had a few dinners and shared wine together but this was the first time I got to hang out with the two of them on their own and get to see their playful flirty and funny personalities as a couple really shine. We had kicked around a ton of ideas on where to photograph knowing that no matter what it had to be in the Colorado mountains. We started googling the phrase vail engagement session and ended up finding Officers Gulch and Shrine Pass out between Vail and Copper mountain and while none of us had been there we all agreed it was the perfect adventure for their photos.

Officers Gulch is literally off the highway (like you can throw a rock) and yet somehow it feels like you’re transported to this alpine lake oasis. The light is beautiful, it’s filled with pines and the sound of birds and a few kayakers and picnic goers. I started giving them direction on things to do and slowly realized that they just get giggly and cuddly on their own so a lot of times just let them go for it.

Our final stop was Shrine Pass which was indeed an adventure. We quickly realized we had no idea where to go or if we’d actually found it, the road just kept going and cell service wasn’t a thing up there. We found a trail map that was kind of sort of useful and inevitably we decided to just start hiking and stop when we saw cool spots. We found a beautiful dark forest that felt like the pacific northwest, followed by an open mountain view at 11,000 feet that made us stop for good. We were all a little out of breath but you couldn’t tell as the two of them had these beautiful moments surrounded by the landscape.

So come check out their session vail engagement session and to Aaron & Elizabeth – wanna go back and hike the pass for real? Could be fun!
