Terri & Josh – Golden Gate Canyon State Park Engagement Session

Terri and Josh’s Golden Gate Canyon State Park engagement session in Golden, CO was the perfect mix of all of life’s favorite things… mountains, bubbly, pizza picnics, a cute pup and Colorado fall foliage. Terri had inquired with us on a Tuesday and by Sunday we were heading to their engagement session. They wanted fall color and we were at the tail end of Aspen color change so we had to work quick to find some gold. We went on a hunt and ended up finding Golden Gate Canyon State Park which is about 30 miles outside of Denver and a great escape from the city (and cell reception) with 35 miles of scenic trails to play on.

The beginning of the session was a little rough, we had a meeting spot mapped out but the park is not great with signage and without cell service it’s even worse trying to make sure everyone gets to the same place. We lost about 20 minutes hunting each other down but the session didn’t lose a single iota greatness, in fact it is one of our favorite sessions to date. Terri & Josh were always laughing, having fun and loving on their little pup Rylie who they got from New Hope Rescue if anyone else is looking for an amazing rescue pupper. Their jeans and red flannel were the perfect Colorado attire and we made sure to incorporate pizza since that was an important date item for them. When we got to the champagne part Terri went all in and we LOVED IT!!!! Plus Rylie definitely watched from the background like “what in the world ma”.

Colorado engagement sessions are beautiful any time of the year but there is something special about the golden yellow Aspen leaves blowing in the wind as the sun sets behind the mountains. So if you’re planning a session for fall color, late September is your way to go. But no matter what any mountain engagement photos will always have my heart. This shoot was great because we not only had the mountains and fall leaves, but we also were able to include some magical shots of them walking down a winding country road.
